US ADP 2024: "America's Energy Crossroads," a Webinar

The US ADP was released to the public in December, and it continues to serve as a trove of data and opportunity for net-zero projects.

US ADP 2024: "America's Energy Crossroads," a Webinar

We extend our gratitude to everyone who joined us for the “America’s Energy Crossroads” webinar last month. It was an incredible session where EER’s own co-founder Ryan Jones shared key findings from the Annual Decarbonization Perspective. Together with a distinguished panel moderated by EER’s senior research fellow, Professor Jim Williams, we explored the surging electricity demands from data centers, the potential of geologic hydrogen and next-gen geothermal technologies, and the breakthroughs needed to scale clean tech without extensive policy reliance.

Panelists Mary Haas of Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Sarah Jewett of Fervo Energy, and John Stevens of Google shared insights into deploying cutting-edge technologies, underscoring that America’s energy future is at an inflection point, shaped by technology, policy, and economic shifts.

For those unable to attend or wishing to revisit the event, the full recording and presentation slides are available on our website, along with the full report and interactive Executive Summary.

The 2024 ADP offers a detailed roadmap for the U.S.to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Highlights include:

  • The role of data centers, projected to account for up to 15% of U.S. electricity use by 2050.
  • New analyses on geologic hydrogen and next-gen geothermal technologies, showcasing their potential to transform decarbonization efforts.
  • Cost targets for emerging clean technologies, setting benchmarks for future investments.
